Photographer Information

I took photography classes from instructor, Jimmy Bedford at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, 1972 and 1973 and took many scenic pictures in Alaska from 1970 to 1975. Alaska is a great place for photography (very clear air and great lighting).
I lived in Washington State from 1975 to 2000 and took many picture there. Also traveled to Maine for the fall colors.

My ambition in Alaska during the 70's was to be a freelance photographer. I took pictures for the local Fairbanks newspapers and sold pictures in the tourist shops. I soon discovered that I could not make a living having so much fun and got my degree in Electronics instead.

Even though my profession changed to the computer field, I still enjoy photography.

I have used three different methods for digitizing my photographs for use with Carnation Desktop Pictures.

1. Olympus D300 Digital Camera and Nikon CoolPix 950

2. Kodak CD-ROM (slides and negatives taken with 35 mm camera. Then Kodak puts them on CD-ROM which makes a very nice high-resolution input to the computer).

3. Minolta Dimage Scan Dual. This is the method I have been using for the past several months. The Minolta scanner will scan slides or negatives at 2600 DPI. I use a Nikon N90 35mm camera with a Nikor 28-200 mm lens to take the pictures and then scan them into my PowerMac G4 using Photoshop. This produces excellent results. I used this method for all of the shots taken in sets 5 and 6.

I am currently taking panoramic photos in the Austin Texas area.
