MacWise - Macintosh Terminal Emulation - telnet / serial for OS X - Wyse, Viewpoint, VT100, VT220

MacWise Font Problem and Fix for Tiger

April 30th, 2005

If you have been using MacWise with Panther (OS X 10.3) and then upgrade to Tiger (OS X 10.4), the MacWise font will become corrupted. You will need to trash the font and re-install the font.

The symptom is that columns do not line up correctly. The other symptom is that the flashing cursor does not completely erase the cursor line when it flashes on and off.

SOLUTION:

The MacWise font needs to be re-installed. First, you need to trash the old font.
Look in your user folder/library/fonts for the font called MacWiseFont.nfnt and trash it. Then Open the MacWise 10.7 folder in your Applications folder and run MacWise Font Installer. Now run MacWise and all should be well.

Note: A bug report has been sent to Apple about this problem. At this time, we do not know what is causing the problem. Running the latest version of Fontdoctor shows that there is no problem with the MacWise Font. Sometimes just dragging the font to the desktop and back into the font folder fixes the problem.

Note: This problem was later solved by MacWise version 10.7.61

MacWise allows a Macintosh to be used as a terminal -- connected to a host computer directly, by modem, local area network or over the Internet. The emulators support video attributes such as dim, reverse, underline, 132-column modes, protected fields and graphic characters sent from the host computer, as well as enhanced Viewpoint mode. Features include phone list and dialer for modems, on-screen programmable function keys, connection scripts and more.

MacWise emulates ADDS Viewpoint, Wyse 50, Wyse 60, Wyse 370, Televideo TV 925, DEC VT100, VT220 and Prism terminals. Supports ANSI and SCO ANSI color. Esprit III color is also supported in Wyse 370 mode.
